VICKREY provided civil engineering and surveying services for the expansion of Texas State’s three-story student recreation center. The expansion includes a 54-foot tall rock-climbing wall, a lap pool, a leisure pool, a gymnasium, a running track, a boxing room, weight and cardio rooms, indoor soccer courts, and a golf simulator where students can try their swing at famous courses from around the world. The natatorium housing the two above-grade pools was constructed over an existing limestone bed to exploit the 12-foot slope at the south end of the site and thus avoid significant rock excavation. The project is located in the Edwards Aquifer Transition Zone and falls under the regulations of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
