Towering over the Stone Oak area on 5.4 acres located at the highest elevation in Bexar County is the Stone Oak Temple.

Vickrey & Associates, Inc. was recognized by the American Council of Engineering Companies, San Antonio as a recipient of the 2006 Engineering Excellence Award for our engineering work on the Stone Oak Temple.

The project was deemed outstanding due to VICKREY's innovative and environmentally sensitive design to solve complex site issues such as steep grades, drainage issues, site grading considerations, water quality over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone, the preservation of trees, and other construction complexities unique to this site.

VICKREY performed innovative design services using natural materials in the design to blend civil improvements within the natural environment of the site. Vegetative grass filter strips, natural limestone boulder retaining walls, and a unique drainage and water quality system were design to blend in to the site's natural environment.

The Stone Oak Temple includes unique features such as specialized sealing rooms, theaters, a baptismal, a celestial prayer room, and many distinctive embellishments, including a 13 foot golf leafed statue atop the Temple. The new temple is to serve approximately 45,250 church members in 69 counties stretching from Waco to Brownsville, Texas.
