Project includes an 82 acre expansion to the existing 419 acre National Cemetery with 48 acres devoted to 20,000 new gravesites plus an additional 5,000 columnbarium niches. New roads, including extension of the main access road, entry, secondary roads and a Memorial Pathway are included. Stormwater drainage is being improved as the existing channel is only adequate to serve 150 acres. The channel is being enlarged and two stormwater detention features added and coordinated in the design with protection of existing wetland features. Wetlands protection is being coordinated with the US Army Corps of Engineers.
