VICKREY holds on-call survey contracts for the Texas Department of Transportation in Dallas, El Paso and Houston Districts. Recently, we were contracted to perform surveying services to support the bridge replacements of three span bridges in west Texas.

Design Survey Services

VICKREY surveyors established horizontal and vertical primary control utilizing static GNSS methods and digital differential leveling. The observation files were adjusted and constrained to CORS network. Crews performed high definition laser scanning and point cloud extraction of bridge elements. The design survey included surveying existing conditions from right-of-way to right-of-way of approximately 1,000 linear feet of roadway at each bridge location. The design survey also included cross sectional surveying along upstream and downstream irrigation canals. Three dimensional base maps, one-foot contours and TIN files were generated for each bridge location.

Permanent and Temporary Construction Easements

Technicians obtained tax rolls and deed research at El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. This required coordination with El Paso County Water Improvement District 1 to obtain deeds, profiles scrolls for irrigation canals, laterals and drains. Our team also performed historic deed research on lands over the old Rio Grande bed and research at El Paso County archives vault.

Surveyors performed boundary reconnaissance, surveying, resolution and analysis on three (3) TxDOT right-of-ways and prepared of nine (9) easements and metes and bounds description conforming to TxDOT and El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1 mapping standards.
