VIA's US 281 North Stone Oak Park-and-Ride will expand service north with express bus service downtown, followed by local route expansion in the near future. VICKREY served as the prime firm for Phase I and II of this project.

Phase I
This phase called for a large parking lot, modular shade structure, and a water quality pond on a site acquired by VIA. We performed subdivision platting for an amending plat, Utility Service Agreement request, project management, and prepared construction documents and CSI specifications. We prepared a WPAP for both phases (Phase II specified a 200-space parking garage). Surveying services included an ALTA survey and a tree and topographic survey. We also provided building permit assistance for the City of San Antonio and TCEQ permitting for WPAP approval. We prepared schematic design layouts and a preliminary engineering plan, which provided separate bus and passenger vehicle circulation with a 160-space TAS/ADA-compliant parking lot.

Phase II
VICKREY provided civil site design for this phase that included a proposed multi-level parking facility. The initial concept for Phase II was to design a 200-space parking garage adjacent to the 160-space parking lot from Phase I. However prior to beginning design of Phase II, the project was re-envisioned to remove the parking lot and incorporate the parking spaces into a larger parking garage (four-level, 350-spaces). Consequently, we revised our site plans to accommodate this larger footprint, which also required us to revise our water quality pond design due to its proximity to the parking garage. Also, VIA decided the parking facility would be developed as a Design-Build contract. VICKREY and its subconsultants provided 30% bridging documents, which will be utilized as the conceptual plans for the design-build contractor.
